When Martin Died

When it was announced that Martin Luther King had been killed,
宣布馬丁·路德金遇刺身亡的那天
I think every black person just froze in their tracks,
我想每個黑人都一下子失掉了神
and in their minds,
在他們心裡
they were saying 'Where we go from here?'
一定在說著“我該何去何從？”
It gave you joy just to hear him quote the sentence 'I have a dream.'
聽他談及“我有一個夢想”時會帶來歡笑
It did something to your whole body.
那會使你深刻感受到某些東西
Just went from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet,
是種從頭到腳的震撼貫穿全身
and you would say 'This is Martin Luther King ;
而你會說“快看！這是馬丁·路德金”
he's speaking,and we have to sit down and listen and enjoy what he's saying.'
“他正在演講，大家快坐好認真聆聽享受他的講話”
And I'd love to see what you'd call a utopia.

Everybody getting along in peace,joy,happiness.
那兒所有人和平相處充滿歡聲笑語到處洋溢著幸福
I'm sure fifty years from now,I won't be here to see it,
我堅信五十年後能看到此種景象儘管我可能看不到了
but this would be my hope for my grandchildren and their children and their children to come,

and we just pray that God will continue to bless.
