As she was walkin oer the hill

She heard the death-bells knellin,

And every stroke, it seemed to say:

'Hard-hearted Barbru Allen.'

She looked to the east and looked to the west.
她茫然無措，左顧右盼，
She saw his cold corpse comin.
看見送葬的隊伍經過了山邊。
The more she looked, the more she wept.
只一看，淚水便盈滿了她的雙眼，
She busted out a-cryin.
再一看，她便哭倒在荒蕪的山間。
'Lay down, lay down that corpse,' she said,

The more she looked, the more she wept.

They buried them both in the old church-yard.

They buried her beside him.

From Williams grave grew a red, red rose.

They all tied up in a true loves knot.

The rose run round the briar.
