One of the first gigs that I ever played
我曾經在很多地方演出過
Out of all places
Was at my brothers fraternity house in Norman
其中一次是在諾爾曼我哥哥的聯誼會所裡
For some philanthropy event
那是一場慈善活動
And you see my twelve-year-old self at the time
那時我方才12歲
Decided to go on stage and intro one of the ballads by saying
再三思量後走上台介紹了一首歌
'This is for all of the people who have ****** me over'
我說: '這首歌獻給那些將我生活搞成一團糟的人'
At twelve-years-old
那可是12歲的年紀阿
I can only imagine how long that list was
我仍記得那串'仇人名單'有多長
After the show
演出結束後
My mom pulled me aside with like
我母親把我拉到一旁
True catholic anger in her eyes
眼中充滿典型天主教式的憤怒
Red in the face
面紅耳赤
You know whole nine-yards
你可想她有多生氣
And she said
然後她說
'Listen men dont talk like that boys do
'好好聽著真男人可不會說出這種小男生的言語
And I am raising you to be a man'
我將你撫養長大是要成為真正的男子漢'
And of course she was right
誠然她說得都對
And I think I hated most that I disappointed her
我想我最厭惡的就是讓她失望了
She stopped smoking the year I was born
我出生的那年她戒了煙
But anytime I think of that story
但每一次我回想起這件事
I always picture her with a Virginia slim in her hand
我總會想像出一副她手中拿著維珍妮香煙的模樣
It was her favorite smoke
那曾是她最愛的煙
