Why

The questions i would like to talk about are：
你們的問題中我想聊一下的是：
one
首先
where did we come from？
您我何從？
how did the universe come from into being？
宇宙何來？
what is the future of the human race？
人類的未來將會如何？
is there alien life out there？
有外星異生物嗎？
are we alone in the universe？
宇宙中就只有我們嗎？
i now turn to the second big question：
現在我轉到第二個大問題去：
are we alone，or is there other life in the universe？
宇宙中就只有我們，還是另有其他生物？
we believe that life arose spontaneously on the Earth，
我們相信生命從地球自我衍生，
so it must be possible for life to appear on other suitable planets，
故此生命確有可能出現在其他合適的星球
of which there seem to be a large number in the galaxy.
星河中看來有不少呢。
but we dont know how life first appeared.
但我們仍未知曉生命是如何形成的。
this brings me to the last of the big questions：
這送我到了最後一個大問題：
the future of the human race.
人類的未來。
if we are the only intelligent beings in the galaxy，
若我們是星河裡唯一的智能生物，
we should make sure we survive and continue.
就必須確保自己能存活並延續下去。
i think it quite likely that we are the only civilization
我想我們應該是
within several hundred light years；
數光年範圍內獨一文明。
otherwise we would have heard radio waves.
否則我們應該已收聽到電波。
the alternative is that civilizations don’t last very long，
另一種可能是，該文明都持續不久，
but destroy themselves.
就自我毀滅掉。
