Solar Waltz

Well time she did as time she does
時間她總如此做，
She passed along her way
自顧行路不再回；
And dawn she crept like a frightened girl
暮色裡她躡手躡腳似驚恐，
Out from the night time's sway
逃出午夜的重圍。
But in the merry month of May
五月時節這樣美，
A solemn fact does lurk
卻有定論藏躲；
For Spring it sprang as Spring it does
春日總蔓延如火，
And put the bees to work
讓那蜜蜂去工作。

那蜂群得乾活，
And work they must
那蜂群要幹活，
And work they shall
為萬物生長蓬勃；
For all the things to grow
時間她早知它們若不工作，
For if they don't as time she knows
也會在枝上凋零萎縮。
They'd wither on the bough
那這就叫人多可羞，
And what a shame such things would be
你我將無輝煌美酒，
No wondrous wine for you and me
無果釀蜜酒湯入口，
No cider too, nor mead nor soup
讓我們幸福沉醉。
For us to all make merry
就腐壞發酵爛如剁，

萬物才可生長蓬勃，
So rot, ferment and decompose
或在無酒的世間漂泊，
So all the things can grow
在枝上凋零萎縮。
Or wallow in a drinkless world
啊多蒙塵的負擔，
And wither on the bough
是那蜜漿與花粉，
Oh what a dusty burden
如負天而立巨人，
That nectar and that pollen
腦後重擔的一切。
Like Atlas with the heavens
而若它們顫抖不止，
On the back of his head
聳動那孱弱的雙肩？
And what if they should falter
唉時間也同樣向前。
And shrug their little shoulders?
Well time she’d pass all the same
