Hello darkness my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping

People talking without speaking
people hearing without listening
People writing songs
that voices never share
And no one dare disturb

And the people bow and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flash out it's warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sings said
the words of the prophets are
Written on the subway
walls and tenement halls
And whispered
in the sounds of silence
