The Promise

I decided that day I wanted to become a lot more like the sky
I wanted to expand and learn how to comfort myself.
I decided that when that day came
I will feel alive again
And my happiness will be light blue like the sky.
Because the blue that I felt then was dark
And nothing like the morning sky.
I promised to myself that there would come a time
Where I won’t know that person on the porch
But I will understand.
And when the time comes I will extend my hand to her.
Because I have been there before
But by that time I won’t be going back.
