Blue Waves

Had a dream the walls turned black
Woke up with sweat running down my back
A sense of dread hung in the air
That glued me to my bed
My soul is in the waves;
It’s dragging me down
Went downtown one night alone
The sound of silence deafened my ears
Taxi Driver, take me away
I wanted to go, wanted to hide
Leave me there
Once I had a dream the walls turned black
I woke up with cold sweat running down my spine
Checked the time—oh, it’s midnight
Went downstairs for a cigarette—and maybe some company?
Something about the air unsettled me that night
A blanket of dread covered the coastal town
The strong wind howled like a restless spirit in an abandoned place
It’s as if, as if, I was the only person in the world
